Pastor Tan Har Yong

The passing of Pastor Tan Har Yong is shocking and sad.

Whenever there's a man like him; ( a faithful servant of God, being look upon as an example and a mentor by others in church and a vibrant teacher) died unexpectedly... the only question that lingers in the mind of many people is "WHY".

The notion of "Death" with the question of "Why" does not make any sense in times like this. All we need to do now is not to seek answers from God. But to seek comfort from Him.

Lord I pray for Aunty Kheng Hong, Wei Hsin and Wei Yen. Give them strength and comfort. Amen.

I got news about the passing of Mr. Tan from a fellow classmate. He was a dear teacher to many of us Inaians. Would it be possible for you to provide more information about what happened?
Also, would it be possible for you to pass my condolences to his family?
Thank you.

Hi Lincoln,
I too got the news from other people. Right now i'm not in Penang. From what i heard, he fainted and stop breathing. CPR was perform on him but fail. You may want to contact Kean Chai (a friend of mine in Wesley) at 0165559590 to get further details of the funeral service.

Pastor Har Yong's funeral is on Thursday, August 14th August 2008, 10am at Wesley Methodist Church Penang, and after that to the Batu Gantong Crematorium. Sorry, this is late information, as I just got back from the funeral.

Pastor Har Yong suffered a massive heart attack and went home to the Lord on Sunday morning, during the wee hours. I understand he was asleep when the attack came and never woke. It is very unlikely for a man with good health to suddenly get a massive heart attack. He just had, in July, a medical checkup which is of no concern.

God has taken back this good servant of His, the reasons are unclear, perhaps only to be revealed clearly in the future. But there was this bible verse that came by during Wed night wake service, John 12:24. I know of another person who also had this verse, while for me, my thoughts was on the slain pastor that eventually brought on the Colombian revival.

I will miss him. He has finished the Race.

He was a good man and it is very sad to know that he has been called home with the Lord. We will remember him for his works to further the Kingdom of God. I will always remember him best for his great sermons during Sunday service. And whenever, he speaks about his son, he would always have tears in his eyes.
Anyway God bless.
